A new partnership between Ignite Emporia, the Emporia State School of Business and the Center for Rural Innovation is providing local residents the opportunity to develop their digital skills.
The digital upskilling partnership provides free foundation level training in the areas of business analytics, front-end web development and digital marketing. Ignite Emporia Director Rob Gilligan says the training through Udacity opens up a plethora of job opportunities for local residents as the workforce continues its shift into the digital age.
Essentially, Gilligan says it is an opportunity to create more opportunities for one’s self.
Gilligan adds that over the past several months the world has begun to realize that thanks to technology jobs no longer have to be “location-based.” He says job seekers now have the opportunity to take a job in the digital world and can pick a community that they want to live in rather than simply having to relocate to the community where their job is based.
Additionally, Gilligan states that Emporia is a great example of a community with an already strong fiberoptic foundation in place. He says the free training being offered through this partnership simply opens the door and teaches residents how to utilize that foundation to find the job that best suits them.
Gilligan says not only does this open up employment opportunities to local residents, it also opens the door to bring new businesses into the local community.
Gilligan says the training is available to anyone in Lyon County and all surrounding counties. To get started with the training click here.
