Changes in state guidelines are spelling the end of Lyon County’s High Consequence Close Contact Testing Collaborative.
Initially, the state was not allowing tests of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients and actually wanted close contacts to get tests if they had at least two symptoms. That has now changed so asymptomatic and single-symptom patients can get free tests.
Also, the partnership involving the city of Emporia, Lyon County Public Health and Newman Regional Health was lightly used since it began three weeks ago. Less than 10 patients used the service in the first two weeks of operation.
Lyon County residents can receive the close-contact testing at Flint Hills Community Health Center, 420 West 15th. People can call the Public Health hotline at 208-3741 with questions.
