Local residents will once again be able to receive walk-up immunizations at Flint Hills Community Health Center beginning Thursday after a slight delay in the schedule due to an unexpected complication Tuesday evening.
The Health Center reported Tuesday that the entire Kansas National Guard contingent on hand to assist with COVID-19 testing would have to head into quarantine after a soldier tested positive for the virus. Due to this development, the Health Center had to alter several services including temporarily shutting down its walk-up immunization program for the entirety of the day Wednesday.
After a meeting Wednesday amongst Health Center administration, Hively was pleased to report that all services will return to normal effective Thursday. She says some staff will be repositioned within the center and may have to “wear several hats” for the foreseeable future, however, things will be able to proceed as normal from an operational standpoint.
Hively adds, the main purpose for the brief delay was just to allow ample time for administrators to process, collect and adjust.
While immunizations will continue, Hively says there will be a change in times for that particular service with more information to be announced via FHCHC’s Facebook page. Additional services including walk-up-flu shots and the coronavirus testing line will continue with no adjustments at this time.
