The Kansas Department of Labor is investigating after at least one phishing incident involving text messages.
The Labor Department says people may receive a text inviting people to take part in what appears to be a request to fill out a survey “to make us get better with our services.” The department says it has no connection to the message and people should not click any links in the message.
This comes with Kansas and all other states noting a major identity theft effort related to unemployment claims. If you get a text such as the one described, or if you get a letter from the Labor Department saying you have applied for benefits when you haven’t, report it online at www.reportfraud.ks.gov.
