Thursday was a record-setting day for Lyon County, but not in a good way.
Lyon County Public Health reported 65 new COVID-19 cases which is 20 more cases than the previous largest single-day increase of 45 last Friday. The number of overall cases has now increased to 1,457.
Public Health also reported 47 recoveries bringing the active case total to 209, an increase of 18 from Wednesday. This is the largest number of active cases for the county since the onset of the pandemic back in mid-March. The prior peak for active cases was 197 back in late April.
The number of deaths remained steady once again at 41 with one case pending final cause classification from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Colleges and Universities: 1 active cluster, 93 total cases, 19 active cases, 0 deaths
Schools: 3 active clusters, 39 total cases, 21 active cases, 0 deaths
Gatherings: 1 active cluster, 6 total cases, 5 active cases, 0 deaths
Long-Term Care Facility: 1 active cluster, 3 cases, 0 deaths
