The Madison Bulldogs rolled into round three of the Eight-Man Division I playoffs with a 60-0 victory over Oswego Friday night.
Madison controlled the tempo on both sides of the ball from the get-go scoring five touchdowns in the first quarter to establish a 40-0 lead at the end of one. Madison would tack on three more scores in the second, including two fumble returns by seniors Hunter Engle and Isaac Miser to secure the win.
With the victory, Madison advances to face Canton-Galva next week after Canton picked up a 56-6 victory over Burlingame Friday. Last year Canton knocked the Bulldogs out of the playoffs with a 46-6 victory.
Senior running back Ryan Wolgram, who had two touchdowns on the night, says that loss has been a powerful motivator this season.
Madison Head Coach Alex McMillian says the rematch with Canton is a game they’ve had in their sights all season.
Madison put up 212 yards of total offense on the evening and held Oswego to just 23-yards of total offense. The Bulldogs were led by junior quarterback Casey Helm who was 5 of 8 passing for 121 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Oswego was led offensively by senior Isac Elkins with 36-yards of total offense.
Madison now improves to 10-0 on the season as Oswego finishes the year with a record of 8-2.
