Though the bulk of All Veterans Tribute Activities are wrapping up, residents still have a chance to view over 20 pieces of artwork constructed by local servicemen and women.
The All Veterans Art Exhibit will remain up for viewing inside the Trussler Gallery through Friday evening. The exhibit was originally scheduled to continue until Saturday, however, due to a shortage in available staff, the EAC had to alter its original plans.
Despite this and the cancellation of the annual artist reception due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gallery Coordinator Shayli Gentry says the number of entries they received for this year’s event exceeded all expectations. The exhibit had a total of 27 pieces from 12 different veteran artists.
Among them was Victoria Perez who took home first place in the exhibit as well as the People’s Choice Award for her multimedia art piece titled “What They are Fighting For.” Gentry says it is an amazing work of art.
If you have not had a chance to view the artwork on display you do have some time left to do so but not much. The exhibit will remain up until 6 pm Friday evening.
Once the display comes down Perez’s piece will still be available for viewing, and purchase, inside ESB Financial at 801 Merchant in Emporia.
