The Emporia Community Foundation is now well into its seventh annual Match Day to benefit 20-plus different area nonprofits.
Because of coronavirus, the Community Foundation is not using Flinthills Mall for the traditional 10-hour onsite event. However, residents are encouraged to donate online at www.emporiamatchday.com and also drop off checks at the Emporia Community Foundation office, 527 Commercial, if they are not comfortable with donating online.
Even with Flinthills Mall not an option this year, Community Foundation Director Becky Nurnberg is expecting a hefty financial total by the close of the fundraiser at midnight.
Nurnberg says the online donation process is easy and works well for people, especially those in outlying areas. For people that would rather donate in person, they can come to the alley between the Community Foundation and the Salon Suites at the Preston between 9 am and 5 pm.
As mentioned, better than 20 area nonprofits and the Community Foundation’s Fund for the Future will receive funding through Match Day. Nonprofits can also take advantage of a prorated matching pool of $50,000, courtesy of the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund, Preston Trust, Reeble Endowed Fund, Trusler Foundation and Jones Testamentary Trust.
Group and overall totals won’t be announced until Dec. 1. KVOE will broadcast those totals on Giving Tuesday.
