Lyon County is fast approaching 2,000 total cases of coronavirus since the pandemic started in late March.
Public Health on Wednesday announced an increase of 93 cases between Monday and Wednesday, pushing the total caseload to 1,976. Active cases increased by 87, pushing that total to 682.
As was the case between Friday, when the Public Health dashboard was in its longstanding format, and Monday, when the new dashboard made its debut, there was some “data flux” involved. Monday had an overall total of 1,883, which tracks with the current total as announced. However, Monday’s active case total was 571. There were several incoming new cases Monday, where patients need to have their diagnosis date confirmed before they can be listed. There are 21 such cases in Wednesday’s report.
The death toll remains at 41. There is one additional death pending final classification from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern will have an update on the county’s COVID-19 response effort on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am Thursday.
