Power outages are affecting numerous area residents Wednesday afternoon.
Evergy reports almost 750 customers in Americus, Allen, Bushong and rural areas near those communities went without power for about 75 minutes before outages were restored around 12:45 pm. One outage affected Americus proper, while the other stretched from just north of the town to the north and northeast. Small outages developed outside Americus and were quickly restored.
Scattered small outages in Dunlap, near Eureka and in Lebo developed around 11:30 am and were restored before 1:30 pm.
Causes have not been determined, but wind gusts have been above 50 mph at the Emporia Municipal Airport as of 11 am. Gusts of 40-50 mph have also been noted in Chase and Greenwood counties.
