Housing and Credit Counseling Inc. is lending a hand to those tenants and landlords currently struggling as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
Earlier this year, the Centers for Disease Control issued a moratorium — temporary halt — on evictions through the end of the year as many residents are struggling when it comes to rent payments due to the pandemic. While evictions cannot occur at this time, residents do not want to get behind on their payments, thankfully the state of Kansas is offering financial assistance to avoid this possibility.
According to HCCI Program Manager for Housing and Credit Counseling Inc. Teresa Baker, says the assistance is being provided not only to assist with rent, but to also help reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 that may occur due to the displacement of tenants.
Assistance is available to any individuals who are unable to keep up with rent payments due to the pandemic or any reason associated with COVID-19. Applicants can receive up to $5,000 in financial assistance through the end of the year.
Baker says not only is this assistance available for tenants but landlords as well.
