Greenwood County’s dense fog advisory has been extended.
Fog has been stubborn in parts of the county, so the advisory had been extended to 11 am after it was originally set to expire at 10 am. Visibility remains at around a quarter-mile in pockets.
Advisories for Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties expired at 9 am as originally planned.
7 am Thursday: Patchy freezing fog possible Thursday morning
Patchy freezing fog may be an issue for some area residents on Thanksgiving morning. In some spots, it could be dense.
Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties are in a dense fog advisory now until 9 am, while Greenwood County is in a separate advisory until 10 am. The National Weather Service says fog could lead to visibility of a quarter-mile to half-mile until it dissipates. Given temperatures below freezing, there could also be icing issues, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
If you’re driving Thursday morning, slow down, use your low-beam headlights and leave extra distance between your vehicles and others nearby. We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
