Now that the holiday shopping season has started, the holiday package mailing season is also underway.
The US Postal Service has already said the Emporia post office will be open two Sundays, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13, from 10 am to 2 pm.
For most states, retail ground is available until Dec. 15. First-Class is available until Dec. Dec. 18, while Priority Mail is allowed until Dec. 19 and Priority Mail Express is available until Dec. 23. Express to Alaska and Hawaii needs to go out by Dec. 21, while First-Class and Priority to Hawaii needs to go out by Dec. 15.
For international mail, First-Class and Priority can go out by Dec. 7 in most cases. Priority Mail Express can ship by Dec. 14 — again, in most cases — and Global Express has to go out by Dec. 17 in most cases.
Some deadlines for military mail — notably retail ground and so-called space available mail — have passed, but parcel airlift mail is still usable through Dec. 4, first-class mail and Priority Mail are available through Dec. 11 in most cases and Priority Mail Express Military Service is available until Dec. 18 in most cases.
