Papa John’s in west Emporia is closed.
The restaurant at 2808 West Highway 50 has put several handwritten religious and personal freedom signs on its storefront along with a closed sign, but the official reason has not been listed and calls to the restaurant went unanswered both Saturday and Sunday. A call to the corporate office gives no indication for why the store was closed.
There had been some questions posed to KVOE News by listeners asking whether the restaurant had received a citation for mask noncompliance. Current indications from Emporia Police are that is not the case, and so far officers say they have not issued any citations for mask violations since the mandate went into effect this past summer.
