Five workers at Greenwood County Hospital have tested positive for coronavirus, according to CEO Sandra Dickerson.
The employees had worked within 48 hours of being tested and had been screened. Dickerson says they had no symptoms and also been in contact with patients. Those with “significant” exposure,” or within six feet for at least 10 minutes without face coverings for both people, have been told and are taking safety precautions.
The workers have not been named. They are isolating at home.
The announcement came after Greenwood County Hospital announced patient visit restrictions Tuesday. Visitors will not be allowed in the inpatient wing with the exception of patients in comfort care situations. Visitors will also not be allowed in clinics, emergency room or outpatient services unless the patient is a minor or needs a caregiver. Adult patients will get one caregiver, while minors can have both parents or guardians if applicable.
Greenwood County’s overall caseload climbed with 24 new cases and now stands at 251 after an announcement Wednesday. The active caseload is 46, up from 33 Monday.
