A new effort to get Kansas residents tested for coronavirus may mean choices for testing locally.
Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern says the statewide push to get tested, including a new public service campaign and website, may mean more options for testing locations very soon.
Health officials locally and statewide have wanted to get anybody tested who wants that information, but they have been limiting tests to symptomatic patients or close contacts as a way to limit any false results.
The state rolled out its new public service campaign, “Stop the Spread. It’s Up to Us, Kansas,” and a new testing information website, www.GoGetTested.com/Kansas, on Thursday. The new campaign is designed to double the amount of tests across Kansas by the end of December and to get more residents to follow the recommended COVID-19 safety measures from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, including quarantine, isolation and contact tracing.
