For the second time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to fly at half-mast to honor those Kansans who have lost their lives to the virus.
The Governor issued the order Friday as the state has now surpassed 2,000 total COVID-19 related deaths. Flags will remain at half-mast until sundown on Monday.
In a news release issued by the governor, Kelly states, “While COVID-19 has impacted each Kansas community differently, we all share this collective loss of our family, friends, and neighbors. We can all honor their memory by protecting each other and working together to slow the spread of this virus.”
The governor issued the same order back in late August after the death toll surpassed 1,000. At this time, the death toll stands at 2,072.
