Minor injuries came from a truck-cow collision south of Hartford early Friday — at least for the truck driver.
Lyon County deputies and Emporia Fire first responders were toned out to Roads 50 and Z around 7 am. Undersheriff John Koelsch says Victor Edelman of Lebo was southbound on Z when he hit a cow in the road. Edelman’s truck left the highway, hit a culvert at the intersection and rolled.
Initially, the wreck was described as involving a car instead of a pickup.
Edelman was wearing his seatbelt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He initially declined medical treatment but later went to Coffey County Hospital in Burlington by private vehicle for evaluation. The cow, owned by Brandon Keys, may need to be put down as a result of the crash.
