Renee Hively will no longer be the Lyon County Public Health Officer by the end of this year.
Hively announced she is resigning from the position effective Dec. 31. When asked for her reasoning for the decision, she says the weight of serving as Public Health Officer and Incident Commander on top of her duties as CEO of Flint Hills Community Health Center was beginning to become too overwhelming.
She says the individual serving in that role needs to be able to commit more time to the position than she is currently able to do.
Hively says her resignation will have no effect on her position as CEO of FHCHC and she will still be involved in helping with efforts to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Hively’s resignation comes just three weeks after the Lyon County Commission awarded its public health contract to the health center after putting the contract out for bid back in October.
Hively has served as Health Officer since 2017 after taking over for former Health Officer and Flint Hills Community Health Center CEO Phillip Davis.
Lyon County Commission Chairman Rollie Martin says the county has actively begun a search to fill the soon-to-be-vacant Health Officer position with no additional information available at this time.
