The window to apply for money and reduce the chance of eviction is closing fast.
Tuesday is the deadline for tenants and landlords to apply for the Kansas Eviction Prevention Program, which offers up to $5,000 in rental assistance per household.
Tenants must have missed at least one rental payment, be legally authorized to be in the United States, have a household income at or below 85 percent of the state median income and demonstrate the COVID pandemic has had an adverse impact on employment or income to be eligible. Tenants and landlords apply through a joint process online at www.kshousingcorp.org.
Roughly $35 million in CARES Act money is funding this program.
