At the National Finals Rodeo held in Arlington, Texas Waverlys Jess Pope finished in 1st place in the average score standings in bareback riding.
He had a 2nd place finish in the 10th round to go along with a 1st place finish in round 8, tied for 3rd place in the 7th round, tied for 5th in the 4th round, placed 4th in the 3rd round, and tied for 2nd in the first round. His average score was 853, 3 and a half points in front of the 2nd place finisher.
He also finished in 3rd place in the World Standings.
