Walk-ins are welcome at the Emporia Animal Shelter beginning this Wednesday.
EAS will be offering walk-in Wednesdays from 11 am to 3 pm during which time you could find and adopt your furever friend. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the shelter ceased all of its walk-in hours to protect both staff and visitors alike.
Humane Society of the Flint Hills Director Stephanie Achille, a recent guest of KVOE’s Newsmaker segment, says staff are excited to be having walk-in visitors returning to the shelter.
Achille says there will be some rules in place during the walk-in hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Masks will be required for all visitors, only five people will be permitted at one time, social distancing will be encouraged and most importantly Achille asks all visitors to “be kind.”
Achille also recommends filling out the adoption application prior to visiting the shelter as it takes 24 hours for the application to be processed. To request an adoption application contact Achille by emailing Director@Humanesocietyflinthills.org or by contacting the shelter directly by calling 620-340-6345.
