Fundraising is doing well for two ventures at Hetlinger Developmental Services.
In fact, fundraising is in the end stages for the Planting Hope campaign. Director of Development Alex Mosakowski says this will add an on-site greenhouse and begin a horticultural therapy program.
Mosakowski says the goal of $750,000 is now about 90 percent reached.
Meanwhile, Hetlinger also is raising funds for its third annual Everyday Heroes effort supporting enrichment activities like music therapy, art classes and community activities. Hetlinger recently received a $15,000 challenge grant from a group of anonymous donors. Better than $5,000 has been donated for matching purposes. The deadline is Dec. 31. Because of COVID-19, Mosakowski says some funds will be set aside to offset purchases of items like hand sanitizer or other personal protective equipment.
Hetlinger serves developmentally disabled residents through enrichment programs, job opportunities and a recycling program. For more information, call 342-1087 or go online to www.hetlinger.org. To donate, mail contributions to Hetlinger at 707 South Commercial in Emporia.
