The COVID-19 testing line at Flint Hills Community Health Center will not be taking a break come Friday after all.
Tuesday, the health center announced plans to temporary hault its drive thru testing line beginning Friday once the GoGetTested.com/Kansas effort got underway. Health Center CEO Renee Hively told KVOE News Wednesday, following a meeting of the Lyon County Public Health planning committee, it was decided to reverse that course of action.
Hively says the decision was made in order to offer residents more than one testing option in the coming months. Residents will still be able to make appointments to receice COVID-19 tests at the health center and the rapid testing option will also still be available for cohorts who meet testing criteria.

8 am Wednesday: The decision by Flint Hills Community Health Center to end its coronavirus testing line is temporary.
Chief Executive Officer Renee Hively says the Health Center will pause that testing method while the GoGetTested.com/Kansas effort is underway between Friday and Dec. 30. The testing line will resume Jan. 4.
While the Health Center’s normal testing line is on hold, Hively says FHCHC will still offer rapid testing for cohorts who meet testing criteria, like essential workers, production workers and school employees. Health Center patients can also get tested for COVID-19 during their appointments.
The GoGetTested.com/Kansas initiative does not need “medical necessity” — symptoms or close contact status — for people to get tested. The free tests will be administered between 9 am and 5:30 pm weekdays and Saturdays. Results could be available within 48-96 hours of testing. Appointments are preferred and need to be set by going online to www.GoGetTested.com/Kansas.
