Just how busy has Dynamic Discs been in 2020?
Owner Jeremy Rusco had two measures of that during KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Wednesday. One is in sheer production volume.
The other is in the need for distribution space, which led to the Dynamic Discs effort to purchase the Detroit Reman facility in the 800 block of Overlander Road. Right now, Dynamic Discs has about 20,000 square feet of warehouse and distribution space at its facility at 3601 West Sixth. If the purchase plan moves forward, it could quadruple its available space.
Besides that local push, Dynamic’s overseas partner, Latitude 64, is trying to add production space — which leaves open the possibility of disc manufacturing in Emporia.
The company workforce has been expanding all year and now stands at around 60.
Dynamic Discs has been busy in other ways as well. The company announced a name change for the world’s largest disc golf tournament, Glass Blown Open, to Dynamic Discs Open. Rusco says the change was made to continue keeping the Dynamic Discs name in the public as the sport continues to grow — and as Emporia’s place as the center of that growth continues to be recognized. Emporia was announced as the best small town for disc golf by UDisc last month, ranking first in both quality and quantity and an overall disc golf grade of 98 out of 100.
