Doug Peck may have an early Christmas present.
The Republican has been awaiting a decision on whether he can join the Lyon County Commission before the standard swearing-in time in early January after Second District Commissioner Dan Slater resigned his post shortly after the general election last month. On Wednesday, the Lyon County Republican Party unanimously submitted his name to Governor Laura Kelly for approval.
Slater announced early this year he would not seek another term in office. Peck then won the Republican primary before defeating Democrat Ronald McCoy in the general election.
Lyon County Republican Party chair Peggy Mast says Kelly will likely agree with the party’s request. Kelly has a week to announce her decision.
