After a week of boiling water, residents in Strong City can go back to normal with their water supplies.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment rescinded the advisory Wednesday. KDHE says the advisory was announced last Wednesday after a loss of pressure due to a water line break. The Strong City Water Office says there were actually three different breaks after crews punctured three separate water lines as part of a broadband Internet construction project.
Residents had been told to boil their drinking and food preparation water for 60 seconds before using it. KDHE says pressure issues in water systems, like what happened in Strong City, can cause a loss of chlorine residuals and can increase the chances of bacterial contamination as a result.
