The Sweet Granada is receiving CARES Act funding after a clerical error left it off a list of potential grant recipients.
Earlier this year, the Lyon County Economic Development Relief Fund made recommendations for $816,000 in grant distributions to businesses and nonprofits. During Thursday’s Lyon County Commission action meeting, County Controller Dan Williams said the county funneled those requests to a consulting company for final recommendations. Western Consulting thought it had all the “Granadas” processed — including Granada Coffee Company and Granada Theater — but it didn’t include Sweet Granada.
The Sweet Granada is now receiving $15,000 as a result. County Commission Chair Rollie Martin says the allocation was given as a desire to fulfill the county’s responsibility and commitment for the fair and equitable distribution of CARES Act Funding.
In other business, commissioners also approved the signing of the annual noxious weed contract with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Commissioners then spent the remainder of the meeting in executive session. The Lyon County Commission will next convene Wednesday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse for its weekly action session.
