A new partnership amongst charitable agencies will be bringing plenty of Christmas cheer to local children this year.
The United Way of the Flint Hills has partnered with Toys for Tots, Good360 and United Way of the Plains to distribute 800 toys and games across the Flint Hills this holiday season. Upon receiving the donations, the United Way then reached out to three local community partners to assist with the distribution of the toys.
United Way of the Flint Hills Director Mickey Edwards says the added donations are very welcome especially this year as more and more families have been impacted negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Edwards, Kansas United Way was one of the three programs selected to benefit from this new program. The donations included a range of toys and games such as dolls, basketballs, soccer balls, electronics, stuffed animals and more.
Edwards says the variety of donations will allow them to benefit a variety of age groups.
The local community partners assisting with the distribution of donations include Communities in Schools, the Kansas Children’s Service League, and SOS Inc.
