Wichita State outscored the Emporia State mens basketball team 73-57 in what was an exhibition game for the Hornets and a regular-season game for the Shockers.
The Shockers used a 17-4 run to close out the first half after Emporia State made it a 6 point game at 28-22. Wichita State would build a 26 point lead in the second half before Emporia State closed the game with a 10-0. The Hornets were able to hold the Shockers to 28 percent shooting in the second half, While shooting 40 percent.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty was pleased with the defensive effort in the 2nd half.
Jumah’Ri Turner led Emporia State with 18 points. He was the only Hornet to score in double figures.
Wichita State was led by Morris Udeze with 18 points. Tyson Etienne added 14 points, and Ricky Council IV finished with 13 points.
Emporia State plays their final game before the Christmas Break Saturday afternoon against Central Missouri with tip-off at 4 pm.
