Chase County and Lyndon both picked up victories in area high school basketball Friday night.
In the girl’s game, Chase County defeated Lyndon 51-24.
Both teams struggled early on to find the basket with Chase County managing to take a 10-5 lead into the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs would then outscore Lyndon 15-4 to take a 25-9 lead into the half.
In the second half, Chase County 26-6 to pick up their second win of the year. Chase County was led offensively by senior Britney Schroer and junior Kaylee Simpson with 17 points each.
Chase County Head Coach Ron Slaymaker says his team took some big steps Friday.
Lyndon was led by senior Abigail Criqui with nine points. Chase County now improves to 2-3 on the season as Lyndon falls to 1-3.
In the boy’s half of the night, Lyndon would remain undefeated on the season defeating Chase County 58-33.
Lyndon would use an 8-0 run midway through the first quarter to establish a lead they would never relinquish. The Tigers would outscore Chase County 16-6 in the second to take a 34-18 lead into the half.
Lyndon would extend their lead to 20 in the third quarter before holding Chase County to just four points in the fourth en route to their fourth straight win.
Lyndon was led in scoring by senior Luke Detweiler with 22 points.
Lyndon Head Coach Michael Massey says despite the win he feels his team has still yet to “hit their stride” this season.
The Bulldogs were led in scoring by sophomore Cooper Schroer with 11 points. Lyndon now improves to 4-0 on the season as Chase County drops to 3-2.
