The singing of songs and the reading of a classic Christmas tale drew local residents to Facebook Sunday evening for a brand new holiday event.
The first-ever Emporia Community Christmas special took place with a wide selection of local musicians serenading the winter air with many of our holiday favorites. The evening’s lineup included a performance of “Mary did you Know” by Kennedy Criqui.
In total, 15 different musicians sent in pre-recorded performances for the special. Along with the musical performances, local educators also shared a reading of the classic Christmas tale “The Night Before Christmas.”
The special program was organized by Emporia resident Miles Shirk who stated before the program began, “We are all in need of a little Christmas cheer, and music has always done that for me.” The program also included several holiday greetings from local business owners and community members.
If you missed the special Sunday evening you can still view the program in its entirety by visiting Shirk’s Facebook page.
