For a decade, Emporia Child Care has been fundraising and constructing as it has been consolidating its operations at 1320 C of E Drive. That process is almost over.
Director Deb Crowl was excited to share the news on KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday.
Crowl is meeting with the Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office, perhaps as soon as Tuesday, to start licensing. The move could start in early January.
Crowl says the move is bittersweet. Emporia Child Care will be ending its 50-year presence at Emporia Presbyterian Church as part of the move. However, Crowl says this is a step that makes sense and will benefit children, families and staff alike.
Fundraising is largely completed. Last year, Emporia Child Care received a $750,000 matching grant from the WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust to help close the nearly $2 million consolidation effort. Several other large-scale donations also came in, including $50,000 donations from the Reeble and Hopkins Foundations over the last decade.
