With the Winter Solstice came another celestial event Monday.
Residents areawide spent some time outside finding the “Great Conjunction” or the “Christmas Star,” the alignment of Earth, Jupiter and Saturn to make the larger planets look like a bright star. NASA says it has been almost 400 years since the planets were as close together as they were Monday night, and it has been almost 800 years since this phenomenon happened after sunset.
The planets will get further apart as the week continues.
