Blustery conditions are ahead for Lyon and all surrounding counties into early Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service has Lyon County and most neighboring counties in a wind advisory from noon Tuesday to 4 am Wednesday. Morris and Wabaunsee counties, the exceptions, are in an advisory from noon Tuesday to 1 am Wednesday.
Winds will be steady out of the south between 20 and 35 mph by Tuesday afternoon. Gusts could be as high as 45 mph, meaning the risk of downed tree limbs and power outages. The fire danger will be very high — Wabaunsee County continues in a burn ban until at least Christmas morning — and although no red flag warnings have been issued that would lead to automatic burn bans across the area, fire activity is strongly discouraged. Travel will be difficult for high-profile vehicles, especially for eastbound and westbound travel. Outdoor holiday decorations could also be damaged.
