Emporia fire is currently investigating the cause of a fire that caused significant damage to a home in southeast Emporia Wednesday evening.
According to Emporia Battalion Chief Bill Harmon, crews were called to a home at 505 Exchange Street for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival crews found visible flames coming from the home’s chimney and attic.
Crews managed to extinguish the flames, but not before the fire caused an estimated $15,000-$20,000 in damage according to Harmon. Residents were home when the fire occurred, however, everyone made it out of the home with no injuries reported.
Harmon says the cause was likely accidental and no foul-play is suspected. Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE News for more updates as they become available.
