With Christmas on a Friday, special trash, recycling and live tree disposal programs begin Monday in Emporia.
The Solid Waste Department says extra trash and recycling can go next to your Polycarts between Monday and Thursday. You may need to put those items in conventional trash cans so loose items don’t blow down the street.
Gift wrap needs to go in the trash, not the recycling. Speaking of recycling, Emporia’s Recycling Center at 3100 West South will accept additional recycling next week.
Meanwhile, residents can drop off their live trees at the Lyon County Fairgrounds north entrance, Dillons west entrance and Guion’s Showcase between Monday and Jan. 4. residents need to remove trees from any bags they may be in.
Solid Waste Supervisor Keith Senn will have details on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 8:20 am Monday.
