When the free coronavirus test line resumes next week, there will be a change in approach.
Lyon County Health Officer Renee Hively tells KVOE News she has approved the plan from GoGetTested.com and Well Health to use the Fairgrounds Anderson Building as the test location. Hively also says this signals the end of the drive-up testing in place since the start of the free service because all tests will be done inside the building.
Additional details from GoGetTested.com and Well Health are pending, including whether days and hours of operation will remain 9 am-5:30 pm Mondays through Saturdays.
Residents wanting to get tested need to register online through www.GoGetTested.com/Kansas. Lyon County officials are directing people with questions about the process or results to call GoGetTested at 877-837-8461.
Hively says residents who get tested need to self-quarantine until results are back. She says that step protects others, especially if residents getting tested are symptomatic.
12:30 pm Thursday: Plans for using Anderson Building as free test site under review
Plans for using the Fairgrounds Anderson Building as a free coronavirus test site are being reviewed.
Plans need final approval from Lyon County Public Health, and initial plans needed more details, according to Health Officer Renee Hively.
The pending approval comes as GoGetTested.com and Well Health are planning to use the Anderson Building as the free tests are set to take place through January. Neither entity has said whether the plan is to replace the current drive-up method outside the building with a walk-in approach or whether residents would have both options available to them. It is also unclear how the tests will proceed if the Anderson Building plan is not approved.
Free testing continues until 5:30 pm Thursday. There will be no testing at the Fairgrounds for Friday.
