City and county road crews have been hard at work to improve road conditions following Friday’s snow and ice accumulations across the area.
However; travel conditions may still be a bit problematic in some areas due to refreezing in the overnight hours between Saturday and Sunday. The major arterial roadways are clear for the most part with the occasional slick spot in Emporia.
Most residential and collector streets are still experiencing seasonal driving conditions with moderate slick spots throughout. Once again, travelers should exercise caution and take their time whenever out on the roadways.
Seasonal conditions are also being experienced on major highways in the area, specifically on Interstate 35 and US Highway 75. The Kansas Turnpike had reported several slide-off accidents throughout the day Friday, thankfully no injuries have been reported at this time.
With still plenty of snow melting and temperatures in the mid to low 20’s forecasted Sunday evening, drivers will again need to be cautious in their morning commutes Monday due to the possibility of refreezing.
