The Emporia State women out scored Rogers State 85-62 for their 4th win of the season Monday night. The Emporia State men could not overcome 15 made 3’s by Rogers State in a 75-60 loss.
The Lady Hornets would not put the game out of reach until the 4th quarter when they out scored the Hillcats 24-9.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said they made adjustments to the defense and it paid off in the 2nd half.
Tre’Zure Jobe led the way with 28 points. Daley Handy added a career high 17 points.
Kali Martin added 15 points, all in the 2nd half. Fredricka Sheats finished with 12 points. Karsen Schultz finished with a career high 10 rebounds.
The Lady Hornets Trailed 19-18 at the end of the first quarter and led only 39-36 at halftime. They held a 61-53 lead going to the 4th quarter before going on a 14-2 run to take a 20 point lead with 5 minutes to play. The Emporia State women are now 4-1 for the season.
The Emporia State men fell behind early trailing 23-15. They would go on a 15-5 run to take a 30-28 lead with over 4 minutes to play in the 1st half. Rogers State would answer with a 23-4 run that went into the 2nd half. Rogers State would make a season high 15 3 point shots in downing the Hornets.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty gave Rogers State credit for playing just little better then the Hornets.
Gage McGuire scored a career high 18 points to lead the Hornets. Austin Downing added 10 points. With the loss the Emporia State men are now 5-2 on the season.
Both the Emporia State women and men return to action Thursday with games at Missouri Western.
