The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce is splitting its annual dinner and banquet into two events.
On KVOE’s Talk of Emporia on Monday, President and CEO Jeanine McKenna said it’s a prudent step to take with coronavirus still impacting community calendars — and with the popularity of the original format making it difficult, if not impossible, to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
The date for the annual meeting should be set soon. The banquet, meanwhile, will take place June 25.
Looking ahead to 2021, McKenna says the goal — once coronavirus is gone — is to resume group lunches and Business After Hours events. It also plans to bring back Lunch and Learn activities which have been dormant for a couple years.
