Coming soon to a computer near you: the annual slate of storm spotter training sessions, courtesy the National Weather Service.
Both the Topeka and Wichita forecast offices say they will not have the traditional in-person training sessions this year with the coronavirus pandemic continuing, instead relying on online presentations. Final plans should be announced in the next week or two.
Training sessions usually provide basic information about severe storm structure, safety, preparedness and awareness. Details about severe weather reporting guidelines are also covered. Lyon County’s spotter sessions have typically drawn at least 100 people to the training site.
