State-level affairs will see annual updates later this month.
Governor Laura Kelly has updated her plans for the State of the State Address, which will take place at 7 pm Jan. 12 on her Facebook page. The annual speech comes at the start of the legislative session and offers the governor’s status report on government affairs, also outlining her goals for the upcoming session.
Kelly decided on a virtual format instead of holding the speech in the Statehouse, saying the move is designed to ensure the health and safety of all attending, including her administration, lawmakers, court personnel and guests, in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Later this month, Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Marla Luckert will deliver the State of the Judiciary Address. Like the governor, Luckert will have a video address. The State of the Judiciary will be available to the public Jan. 27.
