Moderate rain and a heavy, wet snowfall last week had an impact on this week’s Drought Monitor map.
Lyon, Chase, Wabaunsee and parts of Coffey and Osage counties are now abnormally after having been in moderate drought for over a month. The north half of Greenwood County remains abnormally dry, while most of Coffey County and the eastern third of Osage County are in moderate drought.
Area residents got an inch or more of rainfall early last week, followed by anywhere from 1-7 inches of wet snow on New Year’s Day.
