Nobody was hurt after a car drove into a local convenience store Friday morning.
The crash at BP, 2102 West Sixth, happened shortly before 11 am after a car crashed into the south wall and ended up with its nose inside the building.
Police Sgt. Lisa Hayes says the currently unnamed driver reported a brake malfunction, although an initial investigation showed no such issues. The driver was cited for careless driving.
Initially, Emporia Fire was called out for potential injuries but crews were canceled before they could arrive at the store. There is no word on how many people were inside the store at the time of the crash. There is also no word yet on how long it will take to repair the damage.
