The Emporia State men scored the last 6 points of the game and outscored Pittsburg State 75-72 Thursday night.
In a game that featured 18 ties and 15 lead changes, Emporia State took the lead for good with 45 seconds to play.
Juhmah’Ri Turner led Emporia State with a game-high 24 points.
Mayuom Buom added a career-high 17 points.
Austin Downing finished with 14 points.
The Hornets improve to 6-4 for the season with the win.
Pittsburg State won the womens game 69-64. The game featured 14 lead changes and 4 ties.
Emporia State had a shot at taking the lead with 15 seconds to play but missed on 3 opportunities. Pittsburg State would make 4 free-throws in the final 8 seconds to seal the win.
The Lady Hornets biggest lead was by 9 points in the first half. Their biggest deficit was by 6 points.
Coach Toby Wynn said they had opportunities but did not capitalize.
Tre’Zure Jobe led Emporia State with a game-high 17 points. Emily Weathers and Karsen Schultz both finished with 11 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 4-2 for the season.
Both the Emporia State women and men host Missouri Southern Saturday.
