Lyon County’s main coronavirus tracking data is now in a relatively stable pattern, at least based on the numbers of new and active cases.
The past four reporting periods dating back to Jan. 8 have involved anywhere from 33 to 58 new cases, with 42 new cases between Wednesday and Friday. Active cases have held between 145 and 186 over that time.
However, Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern says other stats aren’t easing up yet.
Public Health says the county’s two-week rolling rate was 14.54 percent as of Wednesday.
Other concerns are hospitalization rates, which in Lyon County had been around 10 until a drop to four Friday, and deaths, which have climbed slowly but steadily through the pandemic. Lyon County has 67 deaths now with three awaiting final cause from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. For the KVOE listening area, Wabaunsee County is second with 13 deaths, adding four deaths over the past week.
Millbern says reporting data has likely caught up with COVID-19 traffic after Christmas and New Year’s Day.
