Lebo swept Madison in area high school basketball action Friday night.
In the girl’s game, Lebo would overcome a quick early deficit to defeat Madison 56-33.
Madison would open the scoring with a 5-0 run early in the first and managed to maintain the lead late into the first before a three-pointer from Lebo junior Abby Peek would begin a 7-0 run that gave the Lady Wolves the lead midway through the second. Lebo would take a 30-25 lead heading into the second half and managed to outscore Madison 26-8 overall in the second half en route to the win.
Lebo had three players in double digits. Sophomore Brooklyn Jones led all scorers with 18 points. Peek added 11 while senior Sydney Tollefson had 13 off the bench.
Head Coach Patrick Gardner praised his team for remaining calm under the early pressure.
Madison was led by sophomore Yolaine Luthi with 12 points. Sophomore Reese Farrow added 10.
Lebo now improves to 7-1 on the season as Madison falls to 4-4.
The Lebo Boys managed to defeat Madison 41-37 in a back and forth game that saw eight lead changes.
Both teams would struggle offensively in the first with Madison managing to take a 5-4 lead heading into the second quarter. The Bulldogs would catch fire in the second and managed to build the lead to as many as 11 at one point before taking a 26-17 lead into the half.
Lebo responded in the third quarter taking the lead with an early 11-1 run. The lead would change four times in the fourth before a three-pointer by Lebo senior Jerome Ferguson with 30 seconds left in the game gave Lebo the final lead of the game before a pair of free throws by fellow senior Devan McEwen sealed the Wolve’s victory.
McEwen led all scorers with 19 points. Senior Andrew Bailey also ended the night in double digits adding 11.
Head Coach Dwayne Paul says they came in expecting a fight and that’s exactly what they got.
Madison was led in scoring by senior Kelton Buettner with 10 points.
With the win Lebo improves to 8-0 on the season as Madison now falls to 7-1.
