A nearly-four-year effort to adjust Lyon County’s zoning regulations may come to an end Thursday.
Lyon County commissioners will consider the Planning and Appeals Board’s recommendation for approving the zoning regulations. The discussion point is at 9:15 am.
The zoning rewrite is currently into its fifth draft. This effort follows a roughly $400,000 joint Emporia-Lyon County partnership with Urban Collaborative to redo both the zoning regs and the city-county comprehensive plan. Emporia and Lyon County passed the new comprehensive plan in late 2017. Zoning revisions have followed, with three drafts of the county document discussed just last year.
In other business, commissioners may approve a request from the city of Emporia for a temporary entrance to Evergy’s substation at 30th and Prairie. They could also pass a resolution declaring minimum maintenance roads. Also, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness CEO Amanda Cunningham will give the agency’s annual report to the county.
The County Commission meeting starts at 9 am in the County Courthouse.
