A Strong City man suffered possibly critical injuries following an early morning vehicle accident north of Emporia Saturday.
Lyon County Deputies and Emporia/Lyon County EMS were called to the 1900 block of Road J just outside of Emporia shortly after 2 am for a single-vehicle rollover accident. According to Lyon County Deputy Zach Shafer, a 2013 Kia Optima driven by 22-year-old Mason French of Admire was traveling northbound on J when the vehicle left the roadway for unlisted reasons.
The vehicle then entered the west ditch and rolled twice ejecting a passenger identified as 26-year-old Alexander Conley of Strong City. Conley was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health and later airlifted to Stormont Vail in Topeka.
French was taken to Newman by personal vehicle with what are being called non-life-threatening injuries. Neither French nor Conley was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
